The Zoo

So a couple of weeks ago, I'm in my car, a 1995 Sunfire that's seen better days... stupid thing doesn't even have a working CD player so I have to listen to the radio. Then this song comes on that I really like, I've heard it a couple of times, but I still don't know who sings it. Sounds like Coldplay maybe, except I have all their albums, so I don't think so.

It's a school holiday, I'm heading to the Zoo with my kid brother. He just saw "The Wild" and now has it in his head that he wants to see the koala bears at the Zoo. I tried to tell him our zoo doesn't have koala bears, but no worko. And the movie sucked too, so it's an all-round tragedy. Stupid Disney.

Anyway, I'm in my own world, humming away, then song ends and I switch stations - and the same song's playing on that station too. Cool. But then something new by Britney comes on and I delete that station from my presets.

We get to the zoo, of course there's no koala bears, so we end up spending an hour at the monkey cage, getting dung flung at us. Tyler thinks it's funny. It's gross. The monkey with the best arm is really getting on my nerves - always waits til I'm looking right at him, then fling, here it comes. You'd think I'd just look away, but it's got these really weird eyes. Kind of freaky, but I keep looking back. FLING. That one splatters a bit.

Finally everyone's bored and after another futile search for the missing koalas we make it back to the car and head out. One bright spot - the song comes on again on the way home. I hope I don't get sick of it.

Stupid DJ's.
